The Malaysian Sports Ministry has officially endorsed and approved the Beach Kabaddi World Cup to be held in Port Dickson, Malaysia from September 23-28.
Earlier this month the Malaysia Kabaddi Federation had briefed the Sports Commissioner of Malaysia on the conduct of the prestigious tournament. This is in line with Section 33 of the Sports Development Act of 1997.
Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh had also hoped that the Beach Kabaddi World Cup would be successfully hosted and contribute towards the development of sports in Malaysia.
The Beach Kabaddi World Cup being held under the aegis of World Kabaddi is hosted by the Malaysia Kabaddi Federation with Olivereth Pty Ltd as the event managers.
Nineteen men’s teams and 12 women’s teams are taking part in the Beach Kabaddi World Cup being held for the first time under the World Kabaddi banner.
Apart from hosts Malaysia, the men’s competition will see Philippines, Pakistan, India, Hong Kong China, China, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Argentina, USA, Canada, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Sierra Leone, England, Hungary and Azerbaijan taking part.
As for the women’s competition, the participating teams are Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Hong Kong China, China, Sari Lanka, Argentina, Kenya, Tanzania, England, Hungary and Netherlands.
The official draw for the tournament will take place on Saturday in Port Dickson.
